Editorial guidelines

Articles:

Contingency Today provides a platform for views, opinions, analyses and case histories, particularly those that reflect independent thinking and provide examples of innovative products or services in action. As such, it welcomes suggestions for feature-length articles or opinion pieces. All articles must be submitted by email to the editor as separate Word attachments.

Length:

  • If possible, send a 200 word synopsis in advance of submitting or preparing an article.
  • Length is not so important on the web, but reader fatigue is likely to set in at more than 1600 words. We suggest something between 500 to 1600 words. If the subject requires anything more, we might discuss running the piece in subsequent issues.
  • All submissions are subject to editing by magazine staff for style and content and will not normally be returned to authors before publication.
  • Please include author(s) name(s), affiliation(s) and email address(es), author organisation's website in the body of the article.

Style

English written in the style of the national 'quality' newspapers is preferred. Common sense rules about grammar apply.

Illustrations

  • Include as many relevant illustrations as possible from which we can select.
  • Plots, screen shots or diagrams should be clearly legible.
  • Provide captions that will help readers understand what is illustrated. Include any necessary picture credits and copyright details.
  • Digital images should be sent as separate JPEG attachments. They should be at least 6cm square in size and be scanned to 300dpi resolution.

Format

Please supply text by email to the editor as a Word-formatted document and digital images as separate jpeg attachments.

News releases

Contingency Today welcomes concise, factual news about contract wins; management appointments; conferences/exhibitions; products; and services.

Interviews

Contingency Today will feature interviews with key personalities. These will typically be senior figures drawn from the public and private sectors and academia, but suggestions will always be considered.
