Afghan money better spent on UK anti-terrorism

Kim Howells, a former Foreign Office minister who is now Gordon Brown's intelligence and security watchdog, has called for a phased withdrawal of British troops from Helmand
Howells, who had responsibility for Afghanistan until 2008, said that the money saved would be best redirected to defending the UK from terrorist attacks by al Qaeda.
