Airwave not affected by strike
Airwave, the emergency services communications network, has reaffirmed that their service will not be affected by the strike action that is being taken by the CWU
The CWU have announced their intention to strike at a number of Airwave offices on Friday 13th and Monday 16th March. This is in response to Airwave reducing its staff numbers by 9% due to the current economic downturn.
Richard Bobbett, CEO of Airwave, said: "I would like to re-iterate the fact that the vital service we provide our customers will remain totally unaffected by the strike action by the CWU. We have instigated our businesses continuity plan which has been formulated to assure our customers with the same level of service they usually receive.
"I am deeply disappointed that the CWU are determined to take strike action tomorrow. Although we have held lengthy talks at ACAS, which we entered into willingly to seek a solution, the CWU have been unable to propose any compromise.
At the moment it is looking like over two thirds of the 80 redundancies will be voluntary and we remain positive that this number will be increased further over the next few days"
