Britten-Norman CEO awarded OBE
William Hynett, Group Chief Executive at Britten-Norman, attended Windsor Castle recently to receive an OBE for “services to the defence industry”
The forty year old former Royal Navy pilot was involved in active service aboard HMS Invincible in the Gulf, Bosnia and Kosovo before leaving the services to become a defence contractor, working in a variety of roles including a consultancy on the Future Carrier Project. He joined the board of the company in 2002 in an advisory capacity, offering guidance on military projects, and was appointed Chief Executive the following year.
B-N Group, which in 2000 acquired the assets of Britten-Norman and the rights to manufacture Islander, Trislander and Defender aircraft, has grown dramatically in recent years and is now a strategic supplier to the UK MoD. The Group, which now has a wide variety of aviation interests in the UK and which has offices overseas in the USA and Australia, remains the UK's only privately owned aircraft manufacturer.
