Brixton plc reduces disaster recovery to less than one hour
Brixton plc, the leading specialist owner of industrial and warehousing property in the UK, has completed a major overhaul of its disaster recovery implementation. Led by disaster recovery specialists, Panacea Services, London-based Brixton plc has slashed its recovery time from three weeks to under an hour.
Brixton plc previously employed a disaster recovery plan based on backing up to tape and the tapes then being taken offsite. This proved to be time consuming and inefficient so Brixton looked to improve its IT infrastructure by developing up-to-date recovery technology and processes to cope with potential major disruptions. Following a total network restructure including adding in virtualised servers, Brixton worked with Panacea Services to install two PlateSpin Forge appliances. The appliances now back-up data automatically in a matter of minutes.
The implementation means that Brixton is now able to restore a fully functioning working environment in an hour. Paul Lawson, Head of IT at Brixton plc says: "This programme means that we now have complete peace of mind, knowing our disaster recovery strategy is fully robust and we can get up and running in an hour, whatever the circumstance. We were let down by our previous IT partner but Panacea Services were able to step in at the last minute and quickly get on board with the project.
"Panacea's tight relationship with PlateSpin and clear, practical disaster recovery expertise put the programme right back on track. Panacea Services provided invaluable support throughout the implementation of this project, demonstrating in-depth knowledge of both the products and our business issues."
As a result, Panacea Services has taken on a larger role at Brixton plc, currently looking after hardware supply and maintenance, Break/Fix services, and will be overseeing SAN health checks and a possible virtual desktop implementation in the future.
