China and Brazil share Olympics security lessons
Senior officials of China and Brazil have agreed to enhance security cooperation for international events to be held in the two nations
Zhou Yongkang, a senior official with the Communist Party of China (CPC), and Jorge Felix, Chief Minister of the Brazilian Cabinet of Institutional Security, said in a meeting that the two countries would exchange experience in security work for this year's Shanghai World Expo in China, and the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.
Zhou, a Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said China and Brazil enjoyed broad common interests in politics, economy, security and other global issues. He hoped the security organs of both sides would set up a cooperation mechanism to jointly promote the establishment of a peaceful and harmonious world.
Zhou also applauded Brazil's adherence to the one-China policy and its support for China on Taiwan, Tibet, Xinjiang and other issues concerning China's core interests.
Zhou said cooperation between the two emerging countries was on a track of rapid growth.
