Death toll in Manila starts at 100
28 September 2009
In Manila there are so far over 100 dead, countless missing, and over 250,000 who have no home left, according to a report by local journalist, Geoffrey Fielding, following the recent typhoon.
Reliable estimates of more fatalities elsewhere in the country have not yet been received but with over 7,000 islands in the Philipines, the news is expected to be bad. Fielding says that "this was the Philipines' worst typhoon in 40 years. Another one is expected in three days."
