Edinburgh seminar on protecting buildings against bomb blasts
The Security Consulting Group will be holding a seminar on the protection of the built environment in Edinburgh on September 18th 2008 at the Caledonian Hall, Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh, 3-5pm followed by drinks reception
The seminar is aimed at corporate security personnel, architects, and developers. The attack on Glasgow Airport and the attempted attack on the Tiger Tiger night club in London serve to illustrate the nature of the threats we are facing and further announcements and initiatives are expected to be made by the Government in the coming months regarding counter terrorism measures and the protection of critical infrastructure.
While the scope of these announcements is still subject to speculation, they may include measures to strengthen the protection levels at critical infrastructure sights as well as seeking greater input from the private sector.
This seminar will cover bomb blast and hostile vehicle mitigation measures for the built environment, critical national infrastructure and crowded places and will follow the themes laid down in the security review conducted by the Government's Security Minster, Lord West. It will look at the latest thinking and best practice on the protection of buildings and occupiers from the risk of terrorism.
