Geneva police use Intergraph

17 October 2007

The Police Cantonale de Geneve, serving the half-million residents of the Canton of Geneva, Switzerland, has successfully transitioned to Intergraph's integrated suite of emergency incident response, planning and reporting solutions

More than 1,000 police officers will leverage Intergraph's solutions to serve and protect those who live and work in the Canton of Geneva, as well as the Commune of Geneva, Switzerland's second most populous city.

In addition to Geneva, four other public safety agencies in Switzerland leverage Intergraph's emergency incident response, planning and reporting solutions including the police, fire and emergency medical service forces in Zurich, Switzerland's largest city.

Across the European Union (EU), nearly 100 public safety and security agencies rely on Intergraph's integrated command and control technologies. With a presence in some of the world's most prominent cities, including the recently added customer sites in Berlin, Germany, Istanbul, Turkey, and Vienna, Austria, approximately one out every 12 people in the world is protected by an Intergraph emergency incident response, planning and reporting application.

The Canton of Geneva police sought to upgrade legacy systems to meet the evolving public safety needs of the community, which serves as the EU headquarters for the United Nations, as well as hosts numerous embassies and other international organizations. Decision makers found that Intergraph's emergency incident response, planning and reporting solutions met the organization's objectives for new public safety technologies, by providing evolutionary solutions that are both Web-based and configurable.

"The Geneva police force faces a diverse range of missions due to the diplomatic presence, the vast quantity of international organizations and events, including EUROFOOT2008, the European Championship of Soccer, and the general maintenance of law and order in serving and protecting the population of this community," said Charly Delay, project manager, Canton of Geneva Police. "Intergraph's command and control technologies advance our force's efforts, improving emergency response and helping us to protect the lives of those who live, work, study and visit the Canton of Geneva."

"By supporting the Canton of Geneva's police force, Intergraph is expanding our international presence and underscoring our ability to meet the complex needs of public safety and security agencies in large, international cities," said Reid French, executive vice president and chief operating officer, Intergraph Corp. "Intergraph is committed to developing technologies and driving industry standards for interoperability and information sharing to meet the evolving demands of public safety and security agencies worldwide."
