Hamas leader in videolink meeting with MPs
The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Transatlantic and International Security condemns the extraordinary invitation extended to Khalid Meshaal, Chief of the Political Bureau of Hamas, who has been invited to address a meeting at the House of Commons, via video link, on behalf of Lord Alderdice and Clare Short MP today
Meshaal is a senior leader of Hamas, a registered terrorist organisation in the United States and the European Union, and directs its political operations from Syria.
According to a posting on the political blog, Harry's Place: " Last night I was at the meeting in the British Parliament where Khalid Meshaal, Chief of the Political Bureau of Hamas, was supposed to speak by videolink.
"But the link to Damascus did not work, so we never 'met' Meshaal
"However while we were waiting for the link to be set up, there were some extraordinary attempts by the Parliamentarians there to rewrite history and rebrand Hamas into a 'resistance' movement. Apparently everything you read about Hamas is propaganda and you need to go there and talk to them."
