Iceland airport remains open for flights
16 April 2010
Although flights are banned in the greater part of northern Europe, at least for the first half of today because of drifting ash ejected from the Eyjafjallajokull volcano, in Iceland domestic flights were allowed on most routes and Keflavik International Airport remains open
This is due to the fact that winds are carrying the ash towards Europe and away from Iceland. Although Keflavík International Airport remains open, many flights are cancelled because destination airports are closed.
