Infonetics survey indicates opportunity for IT security vendors

27 January 2010

Infonetics Research has published its US security client software survey which indicates new opportunity for vendors despite strength of McAfee and Symantec

According to Jeff Wilson Principal Analyst, Network Security: "The security client market in North America is a large market crowded with a long list of players but dominated by a few serious incumbents, namely Symantec/Norton and McAfee.

"However, changes in the way people use networks are creating opportunities in many segments of IT infrastructure, and client security is one of them. Companies looking to exploit new opportunities in client security should focus energy and attention on new problems like smartphones and netbooks, or different ways of solving old problems like offering cloud-based solutions, otherwise it's more or less impossible to get noticed."
