MFD wins award for building protection

01 July 2009

MFD was a double finalist at the Institution of Highways and Transportation Awards held on the 18th June at the Royal Air Force Museum in Hendon

In the CPNI sponsored awards, MFD was the overall Winner in the category of 'Security in the Public Realm', for its work on a Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) Scheme at BAA's Heathrow, Terminal 5.

The judges commented, "This was an uniquely challenging project where both civil and security engineering skills were needed to design and construct an effective scheme in a pedestrian permeable and aesthetically attractive area."

They then went on to say that they were impressed by the very rapid pace of applied consultancy to innovate with foundation designs and adapt newly developed and tested bollard systems to fit within the ground conditions and depths available at the site.
