MI5 in UK's top 100 employers for gays

11 January 2012

The Security Service(MI5) has been listed as one of the top 100 employers in the UK for lesbian, gay and bisexual people. MI5 has also been named the fastest rising employer, moving from 134 to 62 in the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index 2012.

The index uses 109 criteria and 25 different questions to benchmark employers' efforts to tackle discrimination against lesbian, gay and bisexual people.

Director General Jonathan Evans welcomed the Service's ranking and said: "The Security Service has worked hard in recent years to promote equality and diversity across all areas of our work. We are pleased to be recognised by Stonewall, but there is still more we can do. We will continue to support lesbian, gay and bisexual staff to make MI5 a truly inclusive place to work."
