New nozzle from Siemens

08 October 2012

Automatic extinguishing systems are brought in to protect critical equipment, and yet these systems have been accused of harming the very assets they are installed to safeguard due to the high noise levels emitted when discharged.

The Siemens Building Technologies division has therefore launched a new nozzle design, which emits significantly lower noise levels when activated. The Sinorix Silent Discharge Nozzle produces one hundredth the sound pressure when compared to the market norm, addressing the concerns of inert gas systems causing damage to hard disk drives.

Chris Downing, UK extinguishing product manager within the Siemens Building Technologies division, commented: "While the gases used in extinguishing systems have remained relatively unchanged over the past 20 years, technological progress in IT has meant extinguishing systems have also had to evolve to better protect these vital assets."
