PM: fair grit and looking at emergency services

The Government is doing everything it can to ensure the safety and security of people in Britain during the current cold spell, the Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, has said

Mr Brown, said: "We are doing everything we can to make sure that there is a proper distribution in a fair way of grit round the country and to make sure that people can be sure that where they have to make a journey, that we are properly providing for them. We have also looked at our emergency services and we want to make sure that our hospitals are able to cope."

He added: "We will do everything we can and we will continue to monitor every part of this situation day by day and even in some cases hour by hour."
