Qinetiq wins award for Chinook
General Sir Kevin O'Donoghue, the Chief of Defence Materiel, has awarded a Certificate of Commendation to QinetiQ for its part in the Chinook Mk3 Reversion programme
The award recognised the outstanding success of the Defence Equipment & Support and Industry Team that delivered the first Chinook Mk3 aircraft to service in November 2009, 23 months after contract award and two years ahead of previous plans to field the helicopters.
General O'Donoghue commented that this remarkable achievement demonstrates the very best in teamwork and partnership and noted that the Chinook Force is key to the success of United Kingdom Military operations in Afghanistan and the vital uplift that the delivery of these aircraft brings is even more critical given the loss of two Chinook on operations in 2009.
