Report slams London response to snow
A report by the London Assembly's transport committee has criticised London's response to last month's snow storms
The transport committee found that "a lack of preparation and co-ordination delayed the capital's recovery" when the city last month suffered its heaviest snowfall for 18 years.
Valerie Shawcross, the committee's chairman, said: "The heavy snow was unusual, but not unforeseen. While some disruption was inevitable, the evidence we heard suggests a lack of preparation and co-ordination delayed the capital's recovery. TfL and the boroughs need to have arrangements similar to those for a terrorist attack.
"Questions must be asked about how the response was led, including whether the Mayor, as Chair of TfL, could have been given the opportunity to be involved at an earlier stage."
