Standing joins EADS
The senior fire officer, Terry Standing, who commanded the Gloucestershire Flood Crisis has been appointed by EADS as a senior advisor on the FiReControl project
Terry Standing was Chief Fire Officer for the county when it was hit by some of the worst flooding the UK had ever witnessed in July 2007. He led efforts to rescue 529 flood-stricken residents and his team dealt with over 2,000 emergency calls for assistance in the first 24 hours of flooding.
His new appointment as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the FiReControl project will see him use his extensive experience of the FRS and the military to help the EADS team implement FiReControl. He will play a major role in liaising with local fire and rescue services to help with the smooth transition to this new way of working.
Speaking about his appointment, Terry said: "I am delighted to be part of a team that is delivering an innovative solution that will bring about real benefits to the way frontline officers respond to emergencies.
