Xynthia lashes Western Europe

Hurricane-force winds, surging seas and driving rain lashed western Europe on Sunday night leaving scores dead and over million households without power
Dubbed Xynthia, the Atlantic storm crashed late Sunday against the western coasts of France and Spain overnight, bringing with it a band of foul weather stretching from Portugal to the Netherlands. France has reported at least 50 people dead while crticism has been levelled at the country's Atlantic sea defences.
