8 -11 September 2009

ExCeL London, UK

Defence Systems & Equipment International 2009

DSEi 2009: gearing up for another naval spectacle. As the world's largest international defence show, DSEi 2009 (Defence Systems & Equipment International) is once again inviting Navies from around the world to send ships to the event, which takes place from 8 to 11 September 2009. The event's location at ExCeL in London's Docklands means it is the ideal venue to showcase visiting warships. At the last DSEi in 2007 there were six ships from the UK, Germany, The Netherlands and Belgium and the Ships Visits desk organised for more than 2,600 visitors to experience conducted tours of these vessels. More than 20 of the visiting delegations also visited at least one of the ships. The popular waterborne demonstrations - delivered by six naval suppliers in 2007 - will again be reprised. Visitors were able to watch from the Victoria Square dockside, just outside the halls, as an innovative rubber rigid inflatable boat and an offshore raiding craft took to the water twice daily. The audience also saw a fast boat stopping service demonstrated as well as an underwater communications system put through their paces. In recognition of the growth of the show, the entire floor space at ExCeL has been booked to host DSEi 2009 and this is already 80 per cent sold. The 2007 show attracted around 26,500 visitors and saw 77 official delegations attending from 50 countries. DSEi, which is now part of Clarion Defence & Security's portfolio of events, is working closely with UKTi's Defence & Security Organisation to ensure the show attracts its usual high numbers of foreign delegations and high ranking senior visitors. Exhibitors at DSEi represent the entire defence supply chain. From prime contractors wanting to display the capability of a platform or technology to an SME design and manufacturing house looking for a route to access the defence and security environment, DSEi provides the perfect forum. Nearly a fifth of visitors in 2007 said they visited DSEi to keep up-to-date with what was new in the industry. They were not disappointed with more than 1,350 exhibitors from 40 countries showcasing their latest technologies, products and services.
